Ed. Note: Cal MediConnect, a pilot program initially set to launch in eight California counties this year, aims to improve health care to some of the state’s most vulnerable — low-income seniors and people with disabilities. The program will offer a full range of coordinated care, including acute and long-term care for dual eligibles — those who receive both Medi-Cal and Medicare. On Jan. 30, NAM hosted the first in a series of statewide news briefings focusing on the program’s implementation in San Mateo County. Close to 30 ethnic media journalists and community stakeholders listened to experts in the field who explained the main aspects of the program.
