West Long Beach: A Youth Perspective

VoiceWaves and California State University Long Beach Journalism partnered to report on Long Beach in a new and exciting way. Working with Journalism Department Chair Chris Burnett and Journalism Senior Seminar Professor Gwen Shaffer, a curriculum was developed for the Spring Seminar. Five teams of students were organized to report on five sections of the city: North Long Beach, Central, Downtown, 2nd and 4th Street Corridors and the West Side.

The students write for a Seminar Bloghttp://csulbseniorseminar.blogspot.com/ and then each team completed a final project. Mark Lemus was part of the West Long Beach team. Here, he explains some of the lessons learned.
